12 metres of noise protection – no compromise on airflow: cascade of four Weishaupt WWP LA 60-AR air-source heat pumps

Four Weishaupt WWP LA 60-AR air-source heat pumps (each 1,900 × 1,000 × 2,300 mm, each with 2 fans) disappear inside one continuous acoustic enclosure made of slotted aluminium profiles and aluminium panels.
The concept
- Base structure of 4 modules of a plug-in aluminium profile frame, mounted on a level concrete foundation provided on site, to which the base frame is anchored
- Service doors all round, integrated directly into the profile frame – every unit remains accessible from all sides
- Panels of 1.5 mm aluminium with 40 mm Stratocell® Whisper: absorbs instead of reflecting, moisture-resistant, mould-free, washable with a pressure washer, fire rating B-s2,d0
- HSA3 absorber pockets in the corners of the enclosure: in box-shaped bodies, sound accumulates exactly where two surfaces meet. That is where the absorbers sit – not just anywhere on the surface.
- The separation between intake and discharge chamber is also made of HSA3. This changes the tonality massively: not only does the level drop, but so does the tonal character of the fan noise – and that is exactly what the neighbours perceive as a nuisance.
The figures
12.4 × 2.6 × 2.6 mEnclosure 12,400 × 2,600 × 2,600 mm (L × W × H), approx. 1,443 kg
100,000 m³/h25,000 m³/h per unit, with all four units at full load simultaneously
approx. 2.6 m/sin intake and discharge chamber – with 10.5 m² of free area for air inlet and outlet
This is what matters
Noise protection does not come from wrapping up a unit, but from letting the air flow freely and placing the absorber where the energy actually is. Air chambers that are too tight cost capacity, create flow noise and cancel out the gain in insulation.
Manufactured in Berlin – installed in Hamburg.
