Acoustic enclosures for heat pumps and HVAC systems – quiet, flow-optimised, individually engineered
From acoustic design to the finished enclosure – for heat pumps, chillers, VRF, PV inverters and BESS. Quiet for the neighbours, without throttling the unit.

What we build enclosures for
From a single heat pump to a plant room with several large heat pumps: every enclosure is designed for the unit, the site and the required noise limit.
Heat pumps and large heat pumps
From compact, split and pool heat pumps (H series) to cascades of several large units in one shared enclosure (CM series), including R290 (propane) – safety zone and gas detection included.
Large equipment catalogue →Chillers and dry coolers
Enclosures for chillers, top-mounted silencers for the fans of dry coolers and condensers – with verified air flow.
Large equipment catalogue →VRF/VRV outdoor units
For horizontal and vertical air discharge. Standard enclosures for Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Toshiba and Haier, also as module combinations.
VRF/VRV catalogue →PV inverters and BESS
Designed for the typical noise peaks at 16–18 kHz. Also protects against sun and heat (derating), rain, hail and dust. Wall-mounted or free-standing for 1 to 5 inverters – including Huawei, SMA, Fronius, Sungrow.
PV inverter catalogue →Noise barriers and mounting platforms
Where a full enclosure is not possible. The reduction is lower than with an enclosure – but 6 to 10 dB(A) is often enough to meet the limits.
What sets our enclosures apart
Three things that matter when soundproofing air-cooled equipment.
Quiet – and proven
Typically −15 to −20 dB(A), more on a project basis. We calculate the level at the receiver in advance – you know before ordering whether the noise limits will be met.
Design →No loss of performance
We design acoustics and air flow together, using CFD simulation. The HSA3 lining has up to 60 % less pressure drop than conventional splitters – the fan does not have to speed up.
Air flow →Non-combustible, also for R290
HSA3 inner lining non-combustible to A1, modular aluminium construction. For propane units as a floorless design with safety zone and gas detection.
R290 →Design examples
Colour, size and layout depend on the unit and the surroundings – from a compact single enclosure to a large walk-on rooftop enclosure.

What we need to know
- Air flow (m³/h) or cooling / heating capacity (kW)
- Manufacturer and model number of the unit
- Distance to the nearest receiver and the noise limit that applies there
- Installation on a flat roof (weight limit) or on a ground slab
- Existing noise measurement, installation drawings, site survey or CAD data of the unit
About us
ForCoTech and Silent-Mode were founded by Romolo Vicari. While developing heat pumps in China he realised that the noise of outdoor units can become the biggest obstacle – so he developed the enclosures himself.
The first projects were completed in the United Kingdom in 2015. Since then enclosures have been installed all over Europe, and in smaller numbers in the USA and as far as Australia. Since 2024 Silent Engineering di Romolo Vicari, based in Osnago (Italy), continues the development.
Our design work relies on digital tools – AI, BIM and CFD. Manufacturing is carried out in alliance with ABSORA GmbH, Berlin.
FAQ
Which equipment do you build enclosures for?
For air-to-water and large heat pumps, chillers, dry coolers, VRF/VRV outdoor units and PV inverters – single enclosures or one shared enclosure for several units in cascade.
How much noise reduction is possible?
The Standard version achieves approx. −15 dB(A), the Premium version approx. −20 dB(A). For each project the enclosure is designed to meet the noise limits at the relevant receiver point.
What does an enclosure cost?
Standard enclosures for PV inverters start at approx. €4,550 net, standard enclosures for VRF/VRV outdoor units at approx. €15,500 net (excl. installation, VAT and freight). The configurator gives a budget price for any other equipment.
Does it work with R290 (propane)?
Yes, with written approval from the unit manufacturer and a floorless design that lets leaked propane flow away freely at the bottom. No ignition sources inside the enclosure (except explosion-proof equipment), permanently open ventilation openings; where required, gas detection with explosion-proof forced ventilation.
Does the enclosure reduce efficiency?
Air flow and pressure drop are designed with CFD simulation; air velocity is limited and checked against the fan's available external pressure so the loss of capacity stays at max. 3–5 %. HSA3 has up to 60 % less pressure drop than conventional splitters.
