In collaboration with our Berlin‑based R&D network, we are advancing a new generation of HVACR acoustic enclosures built around ABSORA’s patented meta‑acoustic metal — a structurally engineered, impedance‑graded material that replaces classical porous absorbers. Its controlled micro‑cell topology enables broadband attenuation, high modal damping, and stable acoustic performance under fluctuating flow regimes, thermal loads and outdoor boundary conditions.
Our enclosure systems and sound barriers achieve significant insertion‑loss improvements for heat pumps, HVAC units, refrigeration plants and industrial machinery by targeting
• airborne noise (A‑weighted + spectral components)
• structure‑borne transmission paths
• flow‑induced tonalities and broadband turbulence noise


Simultaneously, the engineered housing geometry
• suppresses air recirculation and short‑circuiting, stabilizing evaporator/condenser ΔT
• improves aerodynamic flow uniformity and reduces pressure‑drop penalties • provides high‑resilience environmental shielding against precipitation, UV, particulate ingress and unauthorized access

The system architecture is fully modular, with scalable panel assemblies, configurable flow apertures and parametric frame geometries. Each unit is dimensioned according to • installation footprint • required free‑airflow cross‑section • thermal rejection profile • acoustic target values (IL, NR, ΔLpA) • environmental constraints and mounting interfaces
This enables precise adaptation for retrofit and new‑build applications across all capacity classes — from residential heat pumps to large‑scale industrial refrigeration and process‑cooling systems.

Acoustic Meta‑Materials

Acoustic metamaterials are artificially engineered structures that control the propagation of sound waves far more precisely than conventional materials — for example through negative effective density, locally resonant elements, or defined stop‑bands.
Their core principle is the use of numerous small, periodically arranged cells — chambers, channels or local resonators — that modify sound‑wave propagation so that specific frequency ranges are strongly attenuated, redirected or reflected.
In the case of HSA3, depending on the configuration, the result is: up to 60% lower pressure drop and around 30% higher absorption in the low‑frequency range (125–250 Hz) compared to conventional absorbers (sound absorption coefficients tested according to DIN EN ISO 354) — while simultaneously reducing component thickness, weight and improving airflow performance.
Currently, around 11 acoustic enclosures for large heat pumps and refrigeration systems are in delivery. They cover 16 units in total — with approximately 1,150 m² of installed Absora meta‑acoustic panels, providing measurable acoustic improvements and optimized flow guidance.

Manufacturing & Partnership

For manufacturing, we rely on ABSORA GmbH, Berlin — developer and patent holder of the Absora meta‑acoustic metal.
Silent Engineering is responsible for the technical planning, acoustic modelling and system‑level design. Fabrication and on‑site assembly of the acoustic enclosures are executed jointly with ABSORA. This ensures that acoustic simulation, mechanical design and production remain within a single, closed engineering workflow — eliminating interface losses between calculation, fabrication and installation.
The deployed meta‑acoustic metal delivers up to 60% lower pressure drop and up to 30% higher low‑frequency absorption compared to conventional baffle‑type silencers. In precisely the frequency bands where compressors and fans generate the highest neighbourhood impact, the enclosure provides maximum attenuation — without restricting airflow or reducing system performance.

Soundproofing for district heat pumps

Large heat pumps are used for economical and emission-free heating and cooling of large buildings and for temperature boosting in district heating networks.

SilentMode-CM 
By combining individual modules, it is possible to install not only single systems but also multiple systems in a single enclosure. The largest enclosure we have delivered to date measured 18,500 x 4,500 x 3,850 mm (L x W x H) and weighed 2,650 kg.

Noise and Wheater protection for Solar Inverters and Large Battery Chargers

Inverters emit noise across the entire audible spectrum, often with particularly prominent peaks in the 16–18 kHz range. Our sound hoods are designed to absorb sound in this frequency spectrum. They are modular and can be adapted to any system size, environment and installation situation.

Protection against direct sunlight and high temperatures that can lead to derating of the inverter, as well as protection against other atmospheric influences (rain, wind, hail, dust) included. ​
